Texas Homebuilder Wins Best Architectural Design for Austin Waters, Reinvents Multifamily Category
Dallas-based homebuilder Darling Homes was recently awarded the Star Award for best Architectural Design for Attached Homes (Multifamily) by the Texas Association of Builders for their Austin Waters Villa product located in Carrollton, Texas. Star Awards finalists and winners were recognized recently at the Sunbelt Builders Show held in Austin, Texas.
The 25-year-old Texas homebuilder currently ranks as the 69th largest homebuilder in the US; ranks highest in customer satisfaction ratings and consistently is selected as one of “best places to work” in the DFW market.
In the multifamily category, Darling Homes identified an infill land opportunity that failed to realize is potential with the traditional attached townhomes previously developed. The attached townhome product wasn’t resonating with consumers resulting in a more creative approach to reach project completion.
Research conducted revealed consumers wanted a high-end neighborhood setting with a low maintenance, luxury living home design. Their wish list included the look and feel of a single-family home (with the amenities, features and architectural style) without the common area maintenance. Homebuyers also indicated the need for inclusion of private yards for pets and an outdoor living space for entertaining.
Darling Homes’ Austin Waters Villa product broke the traditional mold with a new home design concept ideal for the empty nester, busy professional or first-time homebuyer. The homebuilder reinvented the multifamily category with their detached villa product, priced from the $200s, situated in an upscale Residential community.
Six unique home designs were developed, with three elevation options, giving the Villas a variety of architectural styles, including Colonial and Classic Revival, Southern Vernacular, Tudor, Arts and Crafts, Texas and Mediterranean.
“Our villa product is the result of designing and conceptualizing a community that feels like walking through a European village,” said Mike Carter, Darling Homes Corporate Director of Marketing. “We pride ourselves on understanding our customer’s needs and the marketplace. In the case of our villa product, we reinvented a new home design concept based on low maintenance luxury in an urban setting at an unbeatable price point. Sales of our villa product have steadily increased and we have plans to expand in additional strategic infill locations,” he said.
The Star Awards, held in conjunction with the Sunbelt Builders Show™, is heavily marketed to the Sunbelt region: Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Arkansas. With more than 75 categories to choose from and hundreds of entries each year, it is an impressive feat to be identified as a finalist, let alone a winner.
