TOTAL COMPENSATION
As an employee of Darling Homes, your total compensation package
is comprised of both cash compensation and fringe benefits. Because we are
committed to a work-life balance, our comprehensive Benefit Program is a direct
reflection of a caring attitude for the employee and their family, as well as
reward for tenure.
BASE SALARY
A base salary that is externally competitive and internally equitable.
PERFORMANCE BASED COMPENSATION
- Builder Profit Sharing Program – Based on cycle-time, volume, home acceptance, customer satisfaction, job profitability, and tenure.
- Sales Commissions – Based on sales revenue.
- Staff Profit Sharing Program – Based on overall financial performance of the company.
- Management Incentive Program – Based on the financial performance and customer satisfaction rating of the divisions, regions, and/or the company.
MEDICAL INSURANCE
Darling Homes pays the entire cost of employee medical coverage, and pays a significant portion towards the dependent coverage, based on tenure.
- 25% after one year of service
- 50% after three years of service
- 100% after five years of service
- Dependent premiums are tax-free under the Flexible Spending Account Plan.

- Eligible on the first of the month following 30-days employment
DENTAL INSURANCE
Optional dental coverage is available through Guardian Dental,
with the choice of a PPO or HMO plan, for employee and dependents.
VISION INSURANCE
A comprehensive voluntary plan is available to cover eye exams,
lenses, frames, and contacts. Available for employee and dependents.
401(K) SAVINGS PLAN
You may contribute up to 15% of your salary per year on a PRE-TAX
BASIS (subject to IRS maximum). The company will match 50% of your
contributions (up to 3%), which will be vested in full after 6 years.
Employees will be eligible to participate after six-months of employment.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING ACCOUNT PLAN
Employees may set aside a portion of their compensation BEFORE TAXES,
in order to pay for medical, dental, vision, or dependent-care expenses.
The maximum allowable for the Health Account is $10,000, and $5000 for the Dependent Care Account.
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Confidential assistance is available for financial, legal, parenting,
work and emotional issues. This benefit is offered free of charge to our
staff and their family members.
VACATION
Vacation will accrue on a monthly basis to be used within a calendar year.
Maximum carry-forward of unused vacation into the following year is five days.
Employees may use earned vacation after six-months tenure. Vacation is accrued monthly to equal:
- 12 days – begin accruing 1day/month from date of hire
- 13 days – after 2 years of service
- 15 days – after 3 years of service
- 20 days – after 5 years of service
- 25 days – after 10 years of service
PAID SICK DAYS
Paid sick days are accrued monthly to a maximum of six days annually. Accruals begin after six-months of employment, and may be carried over into the following years. Maximum carry-forward is 22 days.
SABBATICAL PROGRAM
A three-week sabbatical is available after six-years of employment for all employees Termed the “Six After Six” plan, this program provides two additional weeks of vacation (added to one of your four weeks of earned vacation). This is a one-time benefit.
SCHOLARSHIP BENEFIT
In order to assist employees with the rising costs of higher education and to promote strong family and personal development, Darling Homes is pleased to offer college tuition assistance up to $1,000 per semester per qualified dependent of employee; up to a $10,000 maximum. This program extends to all Darling Homes dependents of employees. In order to qualify, dependents must be 25 years or younger, enrolled full-time at an accredited college or higher-learning institution, and maintain passing grades.
HOLIDAYS
Employees will enjoy eight company-celebrated Holidays each year.
PAID TIME OFF BANK
Life occasionally gives us unexpected challenges, and these challenges sometimes have a temporary effect on our ability to do our work. Darling Homes provides many benefits and compensation avenues to access if someone experiences a hardship situation. These benefits include medical coverage, paid time off, 401(k) loans, disability insurance, and the Paid Time Off Bank (PTO Bank). This PTO Bank is a communal bank of employee donated time to be used by other employees under hardship conditions. Employees care deeply about one another at Darling Homes, and this unique benefit is an obvious extension of such caring attitudes.
SHORT AND LONG TERM DISABILITY INSURANCE
Employee Long-Term Disability Insurance is totally paid for by Darling Homes. Employees have the option of carrying Short Term Disability Insurance. Both provide 60% of salary in the event of disability.
LIFE & SUPPLEMENTAL LIFE INSURANCE
Employees will receive a $15,000 life insurance policy, paid for by Darling Homes. Additional Supplemental Life Insurance may be purchased for yourself, your spouse and dependents.
EMPLOYEE HOME PURCHASE PROGRAM
You may purchase a Darling Home at a significant discount. This is a one-time only benefit, for which you become eligible after two years of employment.

Darling Homes strongly encourages employee development and provides opportunities for training and career growth. The Performance Appraisal system incorporates individual development plans into the evaluation process. A few of the programs to assist in your development include:
